Poultry Exhibitors – 2024 Saginaw Fair

As of May 8th the State of Michigan is imposing a ban on poultry exhibition due to Avian Bird Flu. In order to have live birds allowed at a show, like our fair, Michigan must have 30 days of no new positive cases of HPAI. Today, May 9th, a new case was found in Ionia County. We will still be having a poultry show at our fair, but it may have to be an altered plan. As we get closer to the fair we will know more. Dairy Exhibitors – 2024 Saginaw Fair

Due to the unpredictability of the H5N1 (HPAI Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza) and the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) Director, Dr. Tim Boring’s signed “Determination of Extraordinary Emergency, “HPAI Risk Reduction Response Order." With the abundance of caution to protect the exhibitors’ dairy herds, the decision was made to CANCEL all dairy livestock exhibited at the 2024 Saginaw County Fair.

P.S. Both Open and Youth Dairy exhibitors are encouraged to enter in the “Open Dairy / Special Dairy Herd Educational / Dairy Educational Display Class.
